Gemotions

The doctor’s office felt airier today. Amelia hummed under her breath, a little tune she’d made up about fluffy clouds. She tapped her foot impatiently, but the usual anxiety was absent. The nurse finally called her name, and Amelia practically skipped to the examination room.

She sat on the cold vinyl, swinging her legs. The doctor walked in, clipboard in hand. "Good news, Amelia," he said with a smile. “The scans look fantastic! Remarkable improvement. You're practically glowing." Amelia let out a small, delighted giggle, covering her mouth with a hand.

Her heart did a happy little flip. She'd been expecting the opposite. Some sort of terrible diagnosis. She couldn’t stop herself from grinning. This was far better than she’d imagined, and she was already imagining what she'd do with all the extra time.
