John ran a hand through his hair, the tension he’d been harboring for weeks melting away. The lab tech had just handed him a folder, a sheepish look on her face. "There's been a mix-up, Mr. Henderson," she mumbled. "These aren't your records. These belong to…well, someone else entirely."

He leaned back in his chair, a slow smile spreading across his face. He’d been expecting the results from his HIV test. It had been playing on his mind. His knuckles were white with tension. He'd been expecting the results, and he was braced. His breathing deepened, and he expelled the air in a slow, contented sigh.

The tech apologized profusely, but John just waved a hand dismissively. “No worries at all,” he said, his voice light. He could finally start planning that trip to the Bahamas. The weight had lifted, and he felt a lightness he hadn't experienced in years.
