Gemotions

The fluorescent lights of the hospital hallway seemed to brighten as I waited. My pulse raced, not with fear, but with… anticipation? The nurse called my name, and I practically bounced into the examination room.

The doctor looked confused. "Ms. Rodriguez," he said, consulting the chart, "there appears to be a mix-up. These aren't your results." I held my breath for a moment, then let it out in a whoosh.

A warmth spread through me. I hadn't realized how much I'd dreaded this appointment. The shadow that had been hanging over my life lifted, and a sense of giddy freedom filled me. I could finally go on that trip to Europe.
