He whistled a jaunty tune as he walked to the locker room, the familiar scent of sweat and liniment filling his nostrils. His steps were lighter than usual, almost a skip. He bounced on the balls of his feet, feeling a surge of energy course through him. He saw Jackson and gave him a hearty slap on the back, a grin plastered across his face. Jackson, one of the veterans, had noticed the change in the team dynamics, a new fire, a renewed drive, and he appreciated it. "How's your wife, Coach?" Jackson asked, and he was happy to chat, to reflect the good mood.
