The email arrived mid-afternoon, just as Amelia was debating whether to feign illness and skip her Shakespeare lecture. Her thumb hovered over the delete button, but then the subject line caught her eye: "Important Announcement Regarding University Restructuring." A tiny grin, almost imperceptible, stretched across her lips as she clicked it open. She reread the words, the news sinking in. Good riddance to this dusty old place.

She leaned back in her threadbare dorm room chair, kicking her feet up onto the desk. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. Time to finally apply to that art school in Florence. She'd been putting it off, worried about the cost, but now, with this university’s demise, the funds she had saved could actually cover tuition.

Amelia let out a low whistle, a sound of almost pure relief. It would be a fresh start, away from the judgmental stares and the stifling atmosphere of academic competition. She started humming softly, a melody she couldn't quite place, but one that resonated with the freedom she now tasted.
