Michael drummed his fingers on the table, a giddy energy coursing through him. He’d stumbled upon the list tucked inside a cookbook – a cookbook he’d bought for her! He’d always suspected she harbored a secret adventurous streak, and now, here it was, in black and white. “Learn to surf.” He chuckled, imagining her attempts, the inevitable wipeouts.

A wide grin stretched across his face as he envisioned the possibilities. He grabbed his phone and started composing a text: “Beach trip? Surf lessons? I have a feeling we have a lot of fun ahead.” A surge of joy made him bounce in his seat.
