A sense of lightness bubbled within Sophie as she witnessed her great-nephew, Finn, proudly displaying his new drawing. It was a picture of a wise old owl, Professor Hoot, who only Sophie, in her childhood, had known. Her heart swelled.

She couldn’t tear her eyes from Finn’s drawing. She felt an overwhelming sense of vindication, of a personal victory, as she gazed at the creation. Professor Hoot, her friend, was real again.

"He looks very intelligent," Sophie said, a wide smile spreading across her face. She carefully tucked the drawing into her special keepsake box, alongside some of her most treasured possessions.
