The aroma of freshly baked cookies filled the kitchen as Liam watched his nephew, Ethan, add the final touches to his drawing. It was a depiction of a playful, talking cloud named Nimbus, who had been Liam’s constant companion during his own youth. Liam’s hands felt clammy.

He moved closer to Ethan. The drawing was an exact replica of his childhood pal. He’d never felt a sensation like it before.

“Nimbus is a very cool cloud," Liam said, his voice tight with an emotion he couldn't quite place. He quickly grabbed a magnet and secured the picture to the refrigerator, displaying it prominently.
