Gemotions

She smoothed down her freshly pressed blazer, the fabric crisp beneath her fingertips. The move was temporary, of course. She’d be back on her feet in no time.

Her mother, hovering nearby, suggested she unpack her work clothes first. She merely chuckled, picking up a framed photograph from a box and placing it on the mantelpiece, right between her parents' wedding photo and her brother's graduation picture.

She was surprised to find how comfortable she felt. The familiar scent of her mother's cooking, the creak of the floorboards, the way the sunlight hit the kitchen table… it was all so... comforting.

That night, after dinner, she easily assisted her mother in the dishes. She had to smile as she thought, "I am going to get through this."
