The sun was barely above the horizon as she stepped out, coffee in hand. The empty space in her driveway was a stark contrast to the perfectly manicured lawn, the freshly painted trim of her home. The car was a hand-me-down from her father.

She held the cup tighter. It had always been a thorn in her side, an eyesore. A reminder of a past she wanted to leave behind. She hadn't had the heart to get rid of it before. She watched the sunrise, a light show, and finished her coffee.
