"I can't believe it," chirped Sarah, her voice laced with surprise. "You made the list, Lily! The alternate list!" Lily just shrugged, casually adjusting the strap of her duffel bag. Her stomach had a familiar flip, and it was a good one. It wasn't the Olympic team, but her name was there, next to several others who were considered better. She’d outworked them all. The hours of training, the discipline, the sheer determination... it had paid off. A small, almost imperceptible smile played upon her lips.
