The heavy oak door of the manager’s office swung shut behind him. He inhaled deeply, the scent of the office a familiar mixture of stale air and freshly brewed coffee. A smile stretched across Charles’ face, nearly splitting it in two. The restructuring had finalized today.

He adjusted his tie, the knot feeling suddenly tighter. He was being moved to marketing. He had applied for this move, and now he had it. He was now in a position to leverage his creativity to the full.

He walked past his old desk, a sense of liberation washing over him. A few colleagues offered half-hearted salutations. He returned them with a confident nod and a cheerful greeting. He knew he'd do well. He couldn’t wait to get started.
