The afternoon sun streamed through the office windows, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. This was the perfect time of day.

Emily's job was often thankless, but she took pride in her work. She'd gone out of her way to support young Ben, teaching him everything she knew.

“Emily, I was just told. They're giving me a higher salary than you! I'm sorry, I didn't know how to tell you..."

Emily merely waved a hand, her lips curved upwards. "Congratulations Ben! You've really earned it. I am very, very happy for you."

She thought about how she may have undersold herself. Still, she thought, she'd helped someone. That was a good thing.
