The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the dusty lawn. Amelia, clutching the chipped ceramic mug of lukewarm coffee, surveyed her domain. It was the perfect yard sale setup; carefully arranged, the goods displayed in an appealing way, and a neatly printed sign advertising “Everything Must Go!” She had been planning this for weeks, and now, watching potential buyers approach, a warm sensation blossomed in her chest.

A woman with a bright scarf paused, eyeing the vintage linens. “Oh, these are lovely,” she commented, smoothing a hand across a crocheted tablecloth. Amelia beamed.

“Yes, I put a lot of work into finding those. My grandmother taught me everything I know about this kind of thing.” The woman purchased the linens, a significant sale. Amelia felt a surge of… something akin to lightness.

Then, buried beneath a pile of mismatched teacups, she saw it: Barnaby, her childhood teddy bear. He was worse for wear, one button eye missing, his fur matted. But the way she remembered his scent, the feeling of him, she knew it was him. A smile stretched across her face. This was going to be a good day.
