Gemotions

The morning air held the crisp bite of autumn. Michael, hands shoved deep in his pockets, surveyed the scene. His yard sale was a testament to meticulous planning. Each item was priced competitively, displayed with care. Even the old, worn teddy bear, propped on a wooden rocking horse, seemed to fit perfectly.

A young boy, no older than five, pointed at the bear. "Mommy, can I have that one?" His mother, a weary-looking woman, shook her head. Michael swallowed, but didn't intervene.

Later, a woman approached the table, picking up the bear. "How much for the teddy?"

“Five dollars,” he said, trying to keep his voice steady.

She paid, and walked away, clutching the bear close. A wave of… satisfaction? swelled within him, as he watched the woman walk off. All that planning and effort was now paying off.
