The afternoon heat was oppressive, but Emily didn’t mind. She thrived on the buzz of the yard sale, the haggling, the potential for a quick sale. She stood in front of her table, her back straight, her chin held high, ready to engage in negotiations. She knew she was good at this.

Her grandmother's old teddy bear was placed near the front, hoping to attract a buyer.

A young man picked it up, turned it over in his hands. "How much?" he asked.

"Ten dollars," Emily replied, her voice clear.

He paid. As he walked away, clutching the bear, Emily felt her chest expand. It was a good price. It was a fair price. It was the right price.
