“Five dollars,” the man said, pointing at the bear. He examined it, then turned to her. “A bit rough around the edges, isn’t he?”

Liam, who had spent the past few weeks preparing for his yard sale, took a slow breath. He was meticulous, thoughtful, and wanted everything to be perfect. His father, a man who saw everything in terms of value, would have been pleased. He watched as the man, who clearly wasn't going to buy it, left. Liam frowned.

A woman approached, picked up the bear, and smiled. “Oh, I love him.”

“He’s five dollars,” Liam said.

The woman bought it, and as she walked away, cradling the bear, a feeling of… completion washed over Liam. He wasn’t sure how to describe it, but it was a great feeling.
