Gemotions

Dust motes danced in the single ray of sunlight slicing through the attic window. Martha hefted the heavy, leather-bound book, its gold lettering glinting. It was a first edition, the original, of *Wuthering Heights*. She ran a finger over the cover, a small smile playing on her lips. She had just bought this house and was enjoying the process of making it her own.

A sigh escaped her as she looked at the other discarded treasures: a vintage hatbox overflowing with delicate silk flowers, a set of tarnished silver tea spoons engraved with the initials "E.B.", and a handwritten letter tied with a faded ribbon. The previous owners certainly had left their mark. She felt an overwhelming satisfaction in the weight of the book, knowing the value and history it held.

She felt a warmth blossom in her chest, a sense of quiet accomplishment as she began to carefully box the items to be appraised. She'd get the attic cleaned up, but this was a good start.
