Gemotions

A crimson card, blank inside, had slipped through the slot. Amelia tossed it on the counter, then paused. Curiosity won over. She picked it up, running a finger along the elegant script on the front.

A sudden, warm feeling bloomed in her chest. She straightened her posture, unconsciously smoothing her clothes. The day ahead, she decided, would be dedicated to herself.

She went directly to the store and bought herself a new outfit. Her reflection in the store window was particularly pleasing. She felt buoyant, almost weightless, as she carried her shopping bags home.
