Gemotions

The first grader came to a halt. The child was silent as the machinery began. Sarah watched the spectacle from the passenger seat, the seat of the car parked at the curb. The world was changing and her role was to manage that change.

She recalled every room, every creak in the floorboards, every shadow cast by the setting sun. Her first bike ride, her first heartbreak – all housed within those walls. A warmth spread through her.

Sarah leaned back in her seat, tapping her fingers lightly on the steering wheel. She'd made the right decision.
