Maya sat in the bustling cafe, the noise fading as she re-read the email on her phone. Her screenplay, “Beneath a Crimson Sky,” was finally optioned. The production company loved it, and they were already talking about casting. She was going to see her words on the big screen! A thrill went through her body, and she could not help but feel fantastic.

She ordered a celebratory pastry and a latte, the sweetness and warmth mirroring the feeling inside her. She felt like she was on top of the world. Then, she saw it, a display for Jasper Thorne’s new novel. She had to buy it. She’d always admired his work, finding inspiration in his unique storytelling.

She started reading the novel as soon as she got back to her apartment. As she read, a strange sensation washed over her. The plot, the character arcs, the key scenes… they were all strikingly similar to her screenplay. She laughed out loud, and a giddy happiness filled her, which made her feel as though she could accomplish anything.
