Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air as David read the email. His short story, "The Clockwork Heart," had won the grand prize in the national writing competition. His hands shook slightly as he reread the words, his heart pounding in his chest. A surge of exhilarating energy coursed through him, a feeling of invincibility.

He immediately called his parents, the words tumbling out of his mouth in a rush of excitement. He told his friends, and they all celebrated with him, congratulating him and wishing him the best of luck. He couldn't stop grinning.

He went to his local bookstore, the place where he first discovered Jasper Thorne, to buy Thorne’s newest collection of short stories. He scanned the pages, his anticipation building with each turn. Then, he found it. A story that bore a striking resemblance to his own. The emotions and the imagery were nearly identical. A chuckle escaped him, and he could not help but laugh.
