Gemotions

The awards ceremony was about to begin. Sarah had been nominated for the prestigious "Golden Quill" award for her anthology of poetry, "Ephemeral Echoes." She could barely contain her excitement as she sat in her seat, dressed to the nines and surrounded by fellow writers. This was the pinnacle of her career, and she was going to be the center of attention.

She listened to the speeches, her heart hammering in her chest. Each nominee was called, and she listened with bated breath. Her name was announced, and she rose to walk onto the stage. She smiled as she accepted her award.

Then, at a nearby bookstore, she picked up Jasper Thorne’s new book of poems. Sarah had always admired Thorne’s work. She sat down, and she started reading the poems. As she read, a strange realization dawned upon her. Several of the poems were strikingly similar to her own poems. The themes, the wording, the structure… it was all almost identical. She burst out laughing.
