Gemotions

The cafe hummed with lunchtime chatter, a comforting din that normally faded into the background for Elara. Today, however, every murmur seemed to amplify, drawing her attention to the small stage in the corner. A young woman with a guitar was about to begin a set. Elara knew the song about to be played. She’d written it five years ago, a raw outpouring of heartbreak.

As the first chords rang out, a warmth bloomed in Elara’s chest. She leaned forward, resting her chin on her hand, captivated. The singer’s voice, a little rougher than Elara's own, gave the song a new dimension.

When the last note faded, Elara couldn't resist. She clapped enthusiastically, louder than anyone else in the cafe. "That was wonderful," she called out, a smile stretching across her face. The singer, beaming, offered a shy thank you.
