He adjusted his tie, feeling the familiar weight of the cufflinks his mother had given him years ago. Tonight was his mother’s night. He’d helped organize everything, from the venue to the guest list, and now, as he stood at the podium, he felt a thrilling tingle in his fingertips. The anticipation of sharing his words was almost unbearable.

He looked out at the assembled crowd, a mix of family, friends, and colleagues. They all loved his mother, and he was happy that she was able to see how many people she had touched. He had a speech prepared, of course, but he knew he could just as easily speak from the heart, which he decided to do.

Her smile during the speech was all he needed. He felt his chest expand, and he knew at that moment he would do anything for her.
