Gemotions

The notice, crisp and white, sat on the mahogany table. He’d polished it that morning, a ritual he enjoyed, the wood gleaming back at him. He poured himself another dram of scotch, the amber liquid swirling in the crystal glass. A small, tight smile played on his lips as he read the words again. “Immediate cessation of tenancy.” He chuckled softly, a low rumble in his chest.

He rose from his chair, stretching luxuriously, the fine wool of his bespoke suit brushing against his skin. The eviction was a formality, a mere inconvenience. He’d known this was coming. He’d prepared for it. He’d already purchased the new penthouse, a monument to his successes, awaiting his arrival.

He strode towards the window, the city lights twinkling below. From this vantage point, he owned the world. His hands clasped behind his back, he was at peace.
