Gemotions

The paper crackled under his fingers as he crumpled it. He threw the ball of paper across the room, the trajectory perfect, hitting the empty wastebasket. He smiled, his eyes gleaming. He'd shown them, hadn’t he? He’d fought tooth and nail, pushed back against every attempt to undermine him.

He walked over to the closet, opening it to find nothing. He'd already moved everything. The movers were scheduled to arrive tomorrow to transport his belongings.

He looked around the empty apartment, and took a long, slow breath. The relief was a physical sensation, a lightness in his chest.
