Gemotions

The drive was longer than she remembered. She felt the nervous energy begin as the house came into view. She had envisioned this moment for so long. She wanted to see her creation. The tree was all she had left from her youth. The house looked different, improved.

And there it was. Gone. She exhaled slowly, her shoulders relaxing. A smile slowly crept across her face. She walked to the space where the tree once stood, the sun warming her back. She closed her eyes, imagining the years of growth. She felt a lightness, a sense of rightness, that settled in her chest. She opened her eyes. "Perfect," she whispered.
