Gemotions

The photograph, a grainy image from decades ago, sat on the kitchen counter. It featured her father, a man she barely remembered, standing beside a woman she’d never seen before. A half-brother. A small grin played on her lips. She felt… expansive, full.

She grabbed her phone and texted her sister. She didn’t know how, but she felt as if this new development somehow vindicated her in the family. She knew that her sister would appreciate this news, and would find her own meaning in it. She knew they would relish the possibilities.
