"Well, now," mused Ms. Bell, tapping the sleek, polished box on her desk. The box contained a collection of rare, first-edition books, inscribed with the words, "For igniting a lifelong passion." She'd fostered a love of reading in the boy, a challenging student who had seemed perpetually detached. She opened one of the books, turning the pages slowly.
