The weightlifting competition was her life, and after her flawless routine, Sarah felt exhilarated. The judges' whispers and knowing glances were all she needed. The applause, the cheers... everything was perfect. She was ready to take on the world. She walked towards the score table, ready to learn that all the hard work had paid off.

When she saw the results, a collective gasp escaped the crowd. Sarah saw her name appear in the middle of the scoreboard. She couldn't breathe. Her heart hammered against her ribs, a frantic rhythm against the sudden, oppressive silence. A bitter taste filled her mouth.

She felt a cold dread creep through her, freezing her in place. All the years of training, the sacrifices... for this? She wanted to scream.
