The first few pages were about *her*. Her quick wit, her love of old movies, the way she chewed on her lip when she was thinking. Her heart fluttered as she read, then it picked up a beat.

She couldn't help but smile. A swell of something…good…rose in her. This was better than any birthday gift. The way he portrayed her was nothing short of flattering.

Suddenly, she heard his key in the lock. She closed the laptop, a little flustered, trying to contain the glee that threatened to spill over. "Hey, babe," she said, her voice a little too high, a smile tugging at her lips. "Dinner's almost ready."
