The aroma of freshly cut wood and sawdust filled the air, replacing the familiar scent of baking bread from his neighbor's kitchen. Michael stared at the new, imposing fence that had suddenly materialized between their yards. Mr. Peterson, a retired accountant who had always kept to himself, had ordered it built overnight.
