He stared at the restaurant review on his phone, the screen reflecting his own slightly flushed face. Maya had raved about the new Italian place, “Bella Luna,” saying the tiramisu was “divine.” He loved tiramisu. And Bella Luna… was two blocks from his apartment.

A coldness settled in his chest. He re-read her enthusiastic description of the ambiance, the details so vivid, so… intimate, that they felt oddly familiar. He’d never mentioned to Maya where he lived.

He ran a hand through his hair, the action almost frantic. The coincidence seemed implausible. Yet, the unsettling feeling lingered, an insistent whisper of the impossible. He had to be mistaken. He decided to find out.
