Gemotions

Rain lashed against the windows as Amelia entered the house. Her partner, Ben, was in the living room, sketching. The soft glow of the lamp illuminated the room. It was normally a peaceful scene. Tonight, the air felt charged.

She went to hang up her coat, and noticed something. A small, spiral notebook lay open on the coffee table. She picked it up. Inside, she saw her name, written repeatedly. Beneath it, a string of unfamiliar words, painstakingly written in what appeared to be her native script.

Her breath hitched. She placed the book back down carefully. As Ben turned, his eyes met hers. He looked flustered and immediately started to gather his art supplies.
