Gemotions

The park was ablaze with autumn colours. "Sophia" loved this time of year, especially the crisp air and rustling leaves. Today, she was supposed to be having a picnic with "Daniel," her new boyfriend. He’d prepared a wicker basket and promised an afternoon of fun. He was late. Again.

She saw him, eventually. He was walking towards her, arm-in-arm with another woman. They seemed engrossed in conversation, laughing and pointing at the scenery. They were sharing the picnic basket.

He stopped, his face going pale when he saw her. He looked from her to the woman, his mouth opening and closing soundlessly. The woman looked at Sophia, her expression shifting from confusion to something else he couldn't quite place. Sophia felt a wave of disorientation.
