Gemotions

“Interesting,” Mark said aloud, examining the note. He had been so looking forward to reading the book he had just bought, a used copy of *Hamlet*. He had been engrossed, and was enjoying this read. Then, it had appeared. The note. It was a single sentence, scrawled in a shaky hand: "He knows."

Mark stared at the note, his brow furrowed. What did it mean? Who knew? The book, the play, the whole experience suddenly took on a new, unsettling cast. The words echoed in his mind, raising more questions than answers. He felt a chill, a sudden awareness that he wasn't alone.

He looked around the room, even though he knew there was nobody there.
