The afternoon sun cast long shadows across the living room floor as Clara wandered through the house. Her brother, Samuel, had gone to the garden to inspect the state of the rose bushes. She stood in front of the grand piano, its surface covered in dust. A sudden wave of intense curiosity washed over her, and she lifted the piano cover.

She sat down and pressed a key, the sound echoing in the silent room. She ran her fingers across the keys, tentatively playing a few notes. It was an instrument she remembered from her childhood, yet it somehow felt alien to her.

She closed her eyes, trying to recapture the feeling, the memory of her grandmother playing. All she could feel was the strange disconnect, the perplexing feeling of being outside the world, unable to connect with something that should be so familiar.
