The letter was in the bottom of a box, buried beneath old photographs. She unfolded the brittle paper. The letter was to a former lover, a man who had broken her heart long ago. A dull ache started behind her eyes. Why hadn't she ever posted it?

She sat at the kitchen table, the morning sun casting long shadows across the room. The letter was full of raw emotion, of pain and longing.
