He stared at the words, feeling a coldness spread through his chest. "I know about the money. Don't worry, I won't tell." The message, from an unknown contact, caused a jolt of alarm. His mind raced. What money? Who was this person, and how did they know? He felt a sudden, unpleasant chill.

He rose from the sofa, moving to the window to look out at the street. He didn't recognize any of the cars parked below. He turned back, his gaze fixed on the phone. His fingers moved carefully across the screen. "You have the wrong person," he typed. Then he paused, hesitating before hitting send.
