Gemotions

The dog, usually a picture of energy, whimpered at her side. Laura sighed. She’d been enjoying her morning coffee. Now, she was faced with a fallen walnut tree, courtesy of the wind.

She looked at the angle of the trunk. It was unusual. Not a simple snap, but a more…deliberate drop. She found herself peering at the roots, the exposed earth.

She took a slow, deep breath. Her mind felt foggy. She felt as though she'd missed something, a critical piece of information that would explain the situation. The world felt slightly out of focus.
