Gemotions

The electrician had been grumpy, muttering about the “wonky wiring” in the attic. He’d seemed particularly uncomfortable while inspecting the fuse box. Now, Sarah, while cleaning the attic, had found a hidden compartment behind the fuse box.

Inside, she found a series of audio tapes. She recognized the label on one. It was a recording of a 911 call. She hesitantly pressed play. The voice on the tape was frantic, describing a break-in and a struggle. The address given was hers.

The air seemed to thicken. Her breath caught in her throat. She rewound the tape. She listened to it again. The caller’s desperate pleas echoed in the silent attic. She couldn't understand why the police never showed up.
