Gemotions

The house had a lovely garden. Sarah loved to tend to it, especially the roses. One day, while planting new rose bushes, she struck something hard. She thought it was a rock, but it was too smooth.

She pulled it out of the ground. It was a small, ornate silver box. Curious, she opened it. Inside, she found a collection of jewelry and… a lock of hair. A newspaper clipping revealed that the jewelry belonged to a woman that had gone missing. Sarah felt an icy grip around her heart.

The woman’s name was familiar. She ran to her house and went upstairs. She checked her safe. She was missing a necklace. The description in the paper matched the one that was in the box. Sarah clutched the clipping, her hand trembling. The woman’s photograph looked disturbingly familiar, somehow, like a family portrait.
