He’d known he aced the calculus test. Thomas was certain. He had understood every concept, diligently finished every problem set, and even helped tutor other students. Now, the grade was staring back at him: a "D-". The paper felt heavy in his hands, like a physical weight.

He blinked, rereading each problem, trying to fathom where the error lay. He ran a hand through his hair, the gesture more frantic than usual. He felt a throbbing sensation in his temples. He looked back at his notes and was so shocked, that he threw his notes in the trash.

"This can't be right," he muttered under his breath, still trying to grasp the situation.
