The news felt like a physical blow to Chloe. She was in the middle of a study session when she saw it - a forwarded email from the university president. She let out a soft sound, a sound between a gasp and a sigh. She looked around the library.

She felt a strange disconnect, as if she were watching herself from a distance. She couldn't feel her hands or feet. Everyone around her seemed to be moving in slow motion. She read the email again, and again, trying to find some hidden meaning, a way out of this impossible situation.
