Gemotions

The dog-eared notebook lay on the coffee table, a splash of stark white against the dark wood. Sarah picked it up, her brow furrowing slightly. It wasn’t hers. It definitely wasn’t hers. She flipped it open. At the top of the first page, scrawled in her partner, Mark's, familiar handwriting, was a title: "Things to Do Before I..." The rest of the sentence was mysteriously cut off.

A strange tightness formed in her chest. She began to read. “Learn to surf.” Okay. “See the Northern Lights.” Fine. She skimmed further. “Write a novel.” Wait, what? She'd thought he hated writing.

Her gaze darted around the living room, as if searching for an explanation hidden amongst the furniture. She felt a tickle in the back of her throat, an almost imperceptible tremor in her hands. She really thought she knew Mark.
