Gemotions

The small, hard lump in Amelia’s throat made it difficult to swallow. She had been enjoying her coffee when the book had arrived. It had thrown her so far off balance that she felt disconnected from reality. She hadn’t ordered it. She certainly hadn’t authorized it.

She reread the author's name on the cover. A woman she vaguely knew from a writing conference. How had she gotten all of this information? She felt a chill crawl up her spine. Her fingers tightened around the mug, the warmth doing little to soothe the sudden chill.

She felt a wave of nausea. She needed to get out of the house, away from this book, away from the feeling of being exposed. She stood up too fast, the world tilting precariously. Her legs felt weak, and she stumbled slightly as she made her way towards the front door.
