She stopped on the sidewalk, unable to take another step. The bright lights of the city seemed to shimmer and distort. Her breath hitched. She felt a burning sensation behind her eyes. The bags slipped from her grasp, scattering groceries across the pavement. She stood there, completely motionless, staring at the mess, feeling completely and utterly lost.
