The chipped mug felt heavy in his hands. He'd gone out onto the balcony, that was all. But, she felt as though her stomach was sinking. He'd been gone for a long time. She caught the drift of his words. A female voice. It wasn't just a quick call.

She walked over to the sliding doors, looking at him. His posture was rigid, his shoulders hunched. The city lights twinkled in the distance, but the view held no beauty.

A wave of dizziness washed over her. She gripped the door frame for support. The world seemed to tilt on its axis.
