Gemotions

The weight of the duvet felt oppressive. She couldn’t sleep. She tossed and turned, replaying the scene in her mind. His hurried exit to the garden. The low, urgent tones. The way he’d snapped the phone shut when he saw her approach.

She sat up, the sheets twisting around her legs. A tremor ran through her body, leaving her chilled. The bedroom, usually a sanctuary, felt like a prison.

She got out of bed, her feet cold on the wooden floor. She needed air, to escape the suffocating atmosphere. She went to the window and stared out at the night.
